Mysterious forces woke me at 3:30 this morning. I found myself dressed and out the door at 4:05 and walking my neighborhood. This is the day that my speaking group conflicts with my walking the lake schedule. Without planning, I found myself replacing the two mile, forty minute walk at the lake with a walk of approximately the same duration in my neighborhood. My walk today was not as scenic as it is at the lake but the river that runs through the valley behind my residence made a nice natural limit. It is still dark and I could not see any images in the viewfinder of my phone camera so I did not shoot many pictures. Nearing the spot where the river passes under a four-lane street, I heard parrots squawking in the trees. That tropical sign of life was a nice addition to the stillness of the early morning. At the other end of my route where the river passes under a two lane road there was an exotic scent from some night blooming plant beyond my vision in the woods. Even thought the multi-family developments do not offer the vista that the park does there are still items of interest.
The most amazing thing about my walk this morning is that I felt compelled to walk even though it is my official "day-off" from walking. The walking has added immensely to my entire experience. I have associated it with a greater sense of vitality, increased focus mentally, increased strength and endurance, all benefits that are valuable to me. What I hadn't imagined was the sence of empowerment that I am developing. I knowing that I have no limits and that anything I can conceive I can achieve. Look out world here I come!
