Investing In My Health Account

In my walking fitness plan, today is Monday, even though for the rest of the world it is Friday. Walking six days and taking one off develops the sense of there being a beginning somewhere. This day, the day after the day of no walking, is the beginning of my walk cycle. A glorious beginning it turned out to be.

Starting at 6:45 the temperature was cool, around sixty-two judging from the stats on Weather Underground. I took my digital recorder with me today to try recording thoughts and observations at the lake. This is also the second day of the two-lap commitment. At the start, the shadow of doubt fluttered across my consciousness, would I make it? As if. The goal is two miles, not some gargantuan task that only a being of extraordinary strength and resolve could possibly achieve, walking two miles. I would think about the pleasure of the moment and let worry evaporate into the dawn.

The recording went well. I recorded 15 short essays that will edit into a single comment of the walking experience. The second lap actually turned out to be not very different from the first. I kept a comfortable pace and found myself at the finish unscathed. Twenty-five minutes of effort today for additional time added to the account of my future. Investing in the quality of my life has realized an excellent ROI.
