The temperatures are in the seventies and there is a nice breeze. People come to Florida for this nearly "perfect" weather. Today I am walking around the lake in the afternoon because this morning I opted to do Pilates exercises at home to increase the flexibility in my knee. The exercises felt good after not having done them for months. The lake looks unaffected by the Halloween event last night. In fact, I am impressed with its cleanliness and manicured condition. I had not noticed the hedges were trimmed, but today as I walk, I see that they are nicely trimmed and looking good.
There were several large bucket trucks parked on the north side. They were assembling the framework for the holiday lighting display that will be part of the park in the evenings through the end of the year. Nothing happens leisurely these days. One holiday ends and another begins the next day. I guess it is progress.
Walking and jogging the lake this afternoon were couples, families, groups and independent appreciators of the community and the park. The new plantings look great. The new mulch still smells woodsy. The water fouls are busy doing what they do. The lake is a vibrant microcosm of the entire city and the people who live here. I so appreciate this park.
