We had torrential rains in the previous 12 hours and humidity is near 100%. The temperature is 75 and the wind is still. The twenty minutes put into Pilates as a warm up for walking the lake reminded me of other muscles that have too long been inactive. Once upon a time, I worked out at a gym with a trainer and there was a fellow there early every morning. When asked how he was, his reply was consistently, "Everyday, in every way, I'm getting better and better" which he said with great verve. The lake was beautiful this morning and the water level had risen dramatically. Because it is a man made "run-off holding pond," there is no flow of fresh water. Neither is there a system of streams to drain off excess water. The activity at the lake was high with both humans and other species. Thirty or more walkers and joggers were circling the lake in both directions. The greetings were universal, cheery, and chatty on the water level and pristine beauty of the park.
At the beginning of my walk right at 7:00, the electric lights on the oak grove side clicked off, courtesy of an electric timer. As I strolled, the number of birds and water foul was surprising. They remained comfortably calm and watched me as I captured a few images for my photo journal. Everyday in every way life is getting better and better.
