Getting to the park around 7:00 a.m. is working better than the 6:00 plan. First, the light is better for photographs. Second, what I enjoy most, is watching the world change from night to day. Third, the people interact more when you can see each other. The people add the most to the ambiance of walking at the lake.It has gotten cooler overnight; it was 59 degrees this morning. It seems that people are more active as the temperatures drop. A new friend from my walk today, Walt, told me that when it is too hot out he walks inside the mall. What an excellent idea, to have a back-up walking plan for inclement weather. I will have to find out what the time access is for the mall. I spoke with another walker jogger today, Cindy. She had a very pleasing manner of speaking. I have heard it before, but don't know if it is a regional affectation or from another country. Cindy said she loves the beauty of the lake in the morning. Its true, the lake is stunningly beautiful. Sometimes the light makes it almost magical.
The birds were active this morning. A Great Blue Heron posed for me to take his picture. A cormorant emerged from under the water with a good-sized bluegill in his beak and proceeded to maneuver it, whole, down his throat. A photograph could not capture what I saw in real life.
My knee is still a bit sensitive. Doing the stretching exercises recommended by Ken and taking it easy until it is back to normal. Today one of my book clubs meet, we have read most of Virgil's "Aeneid" and will share our insights. Having a discussion group adds perspective and keeps me committed to the 10-year reading schedule of the Great Books of the Western World texts. Having a plan, taking action, keeping the commitment, and measuring the results is a proven success formula. I am creating a life I love.
