Summer 2007 started my speakers association adventure. Friends in speaking and other circles recommended the group. The training course is to develop business skills for professional speaking. Through learning from the experiences of successful professional speakers. The year began in August 2007 and will end in June 2008 (July and December are omitted), creating the 10 month course year. The August class was introductions and goal setting. September was "First Impressions". Developing a cognizant reply to "What do you do?", and creating a "1-sheet". October focused on strategic planning and next steps. November delivered marketing material ideas and a peer progress analysis. Jump to January which addressed self management and market focus. February was product development and technology. March on target marketing and personality profiling. April covered presentation and a 3 minute video clip of our message. May applied brand value, consistent target marketing, and creating a 60 day marketing plan.
Our academy dean, asked us to answer two questions. "What have I accomplished in ten months in this course?" and "What do I want next in my speaking business/career?"
These are excellent critical questions which will be addressed separately in future entries.
